Learn One of Pennsylvania’s Best Tailwater Fisheries

Join Cumberland Valley Trout Unlimited for our upcoming monthly meeting featuring special guest presenter Connor McCoy, manager of TCO Fly Shop. Connor will take a deep dive into the Tulpehocken Creek (“The Tully”), one of the most productive and unique trout fisheries in eastern Pennsylvania.

About the Tulpehocken Creek

The Tulpehocken Creek is a coldwater tailwater fishery located just outside of Reading, Pennsylvania. Flowing from the bottom-release dam at Blue Marsh Lake, the creek benefits from a steady discharge of cool, nutrient-rich water.

This creates an ideal environment where trout thrive year-round.

  • Nearly 4 miles of high-quality water below the dam
  • Strong populations of brown and rainbow trout
  • Consistent temperatures → reliable fishing even in summer
  • One of the most technically rewarding fisheries in eastern PA

What You’ll Learn

Connor’s presentation will break the Tully down into practical, fishable knowledge you can use immediately:

  • Seasonal strategies – how the fishery changes throughout the year
  • Key insect species & hatches – what to expect and when
  • Effective techniques – from nymphing to dry fly approaches
  • Reading tailwater structure – where trout hold and why

Whether you’ve never fished the Tully or want to dial it in further, this session will give you a clear roadmap.
