More About Chris

Chris Luetbecker grew up in Northern Virginia and began trout fishing at a young age, quickly falling in love with fly fishing and the mountain streams of Virginia and Maryland. He developed a deep fascination with limestone spring creeks—particularly those in the Shenandoah and Cumberland Valleys. After relocating to Pennsylvania at age 20, Chris immersed himself in exploring the region’s renowned waters, from the Little Lehigh Creek to the storied Big Spring Creek.

Since moving to the Cumberland Valley in 2023, Chris has dedicated himself to studying Big Spring—its trout, history, ecology, and community. When not fly fishing or photographing the stream, he enjoys writing about the sport and volunteering with coldwater conservation organizations. His passion for the natural world and wild trout shines through in every image and word he shares.
