East Licking Creek Fishing Trip 2025 | Trout Fishing in Juniata County, PA
CVTU Members Return to East Licking Creek for Annual Fishing Trip
Cumberland Valley Trout Unlimited (CVTU) held its annual East Licking Creek fishing trip in May 2025 at the Karl B. Guss Picnic Area, located within the Tuscarora State Forest in Juniata County, PA. Despite high, fast, and muddy stream conditions, the trip was a success—trout were caught, and over 20 CVTU members enjoyed a day of fishing and fellowship.

About East Licking Creek
East Licking Creek is a freestone trout stream west of Port Royal, comparable in size to Mountain Creek in Mount Holly Springs. The Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission stocks approximately 20 miles of this stream with brown and rainbow trout. The upstream section, near the Guss Pavilion, flows through wild public land and holds a healthy population of native brook trout and wild brown trout.

This area also features a Delayed Harvest Artificial Lures Only (DHALO) section that begins at the pavilion and extends four miles upstream—ideal for catch-and-release fly fishing.
Special thanks to Bradley Harlacher for coordinating the event, and to everyone who contributed food, setup, and cleanup. Member donations helped cover event costs, with a modest fee of $5 per person.
