SUMMARY:Juniata River Float Trip | CVTU Smallmouth Bass Fishing Event
DESCRIPTION:Juniata River Float Trip\nDate: Saturday\, July 18 \nTrip Coordinators:\nPatrick Oneglia – poneglia@gmail.com\nDoug Austen – dausten5001@gmail.com \nJoin Cumberland Valley Trout Unlimited for a summer adventure on one of Pennsylvania’s most celebrated warmwater fisheries during our Juniata River Float Trip. This outing offers anglers the opportunity to experience outstanding Smallmouth Bass fishing while floating through some of the most scenic river valleys in central Pennsylvania. \nThe Juniata River flows approximately 104 miles through the heart of Pennsylvania before joining the Susquehanna River. Known for its beautiful scenery\, diverse aquatic habitat\, and healthy populations of Smallmouth Bass\, the Juniata has become a favorite destination for anglers throughout the Mid-Atlantic region. \nOne of the unique advantages of fishing the Juniata River is its designation as a navigable waterway by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. This designation ensures public access to both the river and its riverbed\, making it easier for anglers to enjoy miles of productive fishing water. \nOur planned float will begin at the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission’s Thompsontown Boat Access and conclude at the PFBC Greenwood Access. This approximately eight-mile section of river provides a variety of fish-holding structure including ledges\, riffles\, current seams\, rock gardens\, and deeper pools that regularly produce quality Smallmouth Bass. \nDepending on water levels and fishing conditions\, participants should expect the trip to take approximately four to six hours. Anglers can fish at their own pace while enjoying the opportunity to share techniques\, successful fly patterns\, and local knowledge with fellow participants. \nThe Juniata River is widely regarded as one of Pennsylvania’s top rivers for warmwater fly fishing. Popular tactics include fishing poppers along grassy banks\, casting streamers around submerged structure\, and presenting crayfish and baitfish imitations through deeper runs and pools. Conventional tackle anglers will also find plenty of opportunities to target aggressive summertime bass. \nWhether you’re an experienced river angler or looking to enjoy your first float trip\, this event provides an excellent opportunity to explore new water\, improve your fishing skills\, and spend a day outdoors with a great group of anglers. \nAs with all CVTU Fishing Trips\, this outing is open to everyone. You do not need to be a member of Trout Unlimited to participate. Friends\, family members\, and anglers of all experience levels are encouraged to join us. \nRegistration:\nSign up using the Juniata Float Trip registration link provided below. \nSignup link at:  Juniata Float Trip Link \nWe hope you’ll join us for a memorable day of Smallmouth Bass fishing on the Juniata River.

SUMMARY:Susquehanna River Float Trip | CVTU Smallmouth Bass Fishing Adventure
DESCRIPTION:Susquehanna River Float Trip\nDate: Saturday\, August 8 \nTrip Coordinators:\nPatrick Oneglia – poneglia@gmail.com\nDoug Austen – dausten5001@gmail.com \nJoin Cumberland Valley Trout Unlimited for an unforgettable day on one of the most iconic rivers in the eastern United States during our Susquehanna River Float Trip. Known for its outstanding Smallmouth Bass fishing\, breathtaking scenery\, and rich outdoor heritage\, the Susquehanna River offers anglers a truly unique Central Pennsylvania fishing experience. \nStretching more than 440 miles from New York to the Chesapeake Bay\, the Susquehanna River is one of the oldest river systems in North America and is widely regarded as one of the premier warmwater fisheries in the Mid-Atlantic. Its rocky structure\, extensive ledges\, shallow riffles\, and deep runs provide ideal habitat for healthy populations of Smallmouth Bass and other warmwater species. \nFew fishing experiences compare to floating the Susquehanna River on a summer day. Anglers can expect beautiful scenery\, abundant wildlife\, and the opportunity to target aggressive smallmouth bass using a variety of techniques. Whether you prefer topwater poppers\, streamers\, crayfish patterns\, soft plastics\, or conventional tackle\, the Susquehanna consistently produces exciting fishing opportunities. \nOur primary float plan is to launch at the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission’s Hoover’s Island Boat Access and take out at the PFBC Mahantango Boat Access. This stretch covers approximately 11 miles and typically requires six to eight hours to complete\, depending on water levels\, flow conditions\, and fishing activity. \nAn alternate float option may be used depending on conditions. This route would begin at the PFBC Mahantango Boat Access and conclude at the PFBC Liverpool Access. This section is approximately eight miles long and generally takes five to seven hours to complete. \nBoth stretches offer excellent Smallmouth Bass habitat and provide anglers with the opportunity to experience some of the most productive water in the Susquehanna River system. Participants should be prepared for a full day on the water and are encouraged to bring appropriate fishing gear\, sun protection\, food\, water\, and safety equipment. \nWhether you’re a dedicated bass angler\, an experienced fly fisher\, or simply interested in exploring one of Pennsylvania’s most famous rivers\, this trip offers a fantastic opportunity to enjoy a day on the water with fellow anglers. \nAs with all CVTU Fishing Trips\, this event is open to everyone. Trout Unlimited membership is not required\, and anglers of all experience levels are welcome. Bring a friend\, family member\, or fishing partner and experience one of Central Pennsylvania’s premier fishing destinations. \nSusquehanna Float Trip Signup: Susky Float Trip Signup \nWe look forward to seeing you on the Susquehanna River for a day of great fishing\, beautiful scenery\, and outstanding camaraderie.

SUMMARY:Erie Steelhead Trip | CVTU Lake Erie Steelhead Fishing Adventure
DESCRIPTION:Erie Steelhead Trip\nDates: November 15–18\, 2026 \nTrip Coordinators:\nDoug Austen – dausten5001@gmail.com\nGary Legore – gary.b.legore@gmail.com \nJoin Cumberland Valley Trout Unlimited for our annual Erie Steelhead Trip\, one of the most anticipated fishing adventures on the CVTU calendar. Each fall and early winter\, anglers from across Pennsylvania travel to the Lake Erie region to pursue one of the most powerful and exciting fish that swims in freshwater—the Steelhead. \nFor those who have experienced the explosive runs\, acrobatic jumps\, and sheer strength of a Lake Erie Steelhead\, it’s easy to understand why so many anglers return year after year. For those who have never hooked one\, this trip offers an opportunity to experience one of the most unique and rewarding fisheries on the East Coast. \nSteelhead are migratory rainbow trout that leave the open waters of Lake Erie each fall and enter Pennsylvania’s tributary streams to spawn. These fish often range from five to ten pounds\, with larger fish encountered every season. Their strength\, endurance\, and willingness to challenge even experienced anglers make them one of the most sought-after gamefish in the region. \nDuring this trip\, participants will fish several of Pennsylvania’s renowned Lake Erie tributaries. Depending on water conditions and fish movements\, anglers may have opportunities to fish streams such as Elk Creek\, Walnut Creek\, Twenty Mile Creek\, Four Mile Creek\, and other productive tributaries throughout Erie County. \nThe Erie tributaries offer a wide range of fishing opportunities for both fly anglers and conventional tackle fishermen. Productive methods often include egg patterns\, nymphs\, streamers\, jigs\, beads\, and other presentations designed to entice migrating steelhead. Whether you are an experienced steelhead angler or making your first trip to Erie\, there will be plenty of opportunities to learn and improve your skills. \nBeyond the fishing itself\, the Erie Steelhead Trip is a chance to enjoy several days of camaraderie\, shared experiences\, and the excitement that comes with pursuing one of freshwater fishing’s most impressive species. Participants often exchange techniques\, fishing reports\, fly patterns\, and local knowledge throughout the trip\, creating a welcoming atmosphere for anglers of all experience levels. \nAs with all CVTU Fishing Trips\, this event is open to everyone. You do not need to be a member of Trout Unlimited to participate. Friends\, family members\, and anglers interested in experiencing Pennsylvania’s world-class steelhead fishery are encouraged to join us. \nAdditional details regarding lodging\, meeting locations\, recommended gear\, and daily fishing plans will be shared with registered participants as the trip approaches. \nRegistration information and signup forms will be available soon. \nIf you’ve ever wanted to experience the excitement of battling a fresh Lake Erie Steelhead\, this is the trip you won’t want to miss.
